Alphonse Mucha 11/12/2010 The movement I chose to do my query paper on is The Art Nouveau. Mucha inspired me as an artist by the way he was able to take a rent out on with short notice and limited geological era to do the job. His work mostly featured women in robes, often surrounded by flowers, which sometimes appears as a glory behind a womans head. He retell that art existed only to communicate a spiritual substance and nothing more; Hence his frustration at the fame he gained through commercial art. Alphonse Maria Mucha was born in the township of Ivancice, Moravia (todays region of Czech Republic) on July 24, 1860. He was choker known for his distinct style and his images of women. He created many paintings, illustrations, advertizings, and designs. Muchas first love as a child was drawing, his melodic abilities allowed him to continue going to high school in the Moravia hood of Brunn. He started out working at a decorative painting job in M oravia, mostly painting model scenery. In 1879 he go to Vienna to work for Viennese theatrical design company, while furthering his artificeric education. A liberation consequently destroyed his employers business in 1881, he retuned adventure to Moravia to do freelance decorative and portrait paintings.

In 1887 Mucha moved to capital of France to continue his studies at Academie Julian and Academie Colarossi. While move in his studies, Mucha worked for a company producing magazines and advertising Illustrations. Around Christmas in 1894, Mucha happened to be correcting proofs for a friend that took a holiday, took on a job for the manager because of an upset actress. Being the only artist uncommitted he received the ful! l commission. The job that needed to be done was a new advertising flyer for a play starring Sarah Bernhardt, the most famous actress in Paris. Mucha concur to produce the poster within two weeks and on January 1, 1895, the advertisement for the play appeared on the streets of the city.
